Stabilized Phase Transition Process of Layered Na<sub>x</sub>CoO<sub>2</sub> via Ca-Substitution

We investigated the suppressed capacity fading of a Ca-substituted P3-type Na x CoO 2 during charge/discharge process. The shows similar phase transition behavior to Ca free one, with an expanded P?3 region. is highly correlated at 4.0 V P?3–O3? and 2.7 O?3–P?3 transition. amount Co 3 O 4 observed in cycled electrodes corresponds loss cycling test. Thus, migration 3+/4+ ions process causes fading. decomposition electrolyte solution also accelerates ions. Though Ca-substitution does not prevent transition, improved retention.
